Measurement Microphone Cartridges | Replacement and OEM Capsules for Condenser Microphones

PLACID measurement microphone cartridges (capsules) are available separately as replacement capsules for aged or damaged measurement microphone assemblies, as upgrade capsules when moving from Class 2 to Class 1 performance, and for integration into custom preamplifier housings and instrument designs. The capsule is the critical acoustic element of the measurement microphone — its sensitivity, frequency response, and long-term stability determine the majority of the measurement microphone's performance.

PLACID capsules use externally-polarised condenser construction throughout the range. The 200 V polarisation voltage is supplied through the compatible preamplifier. Each capsule is individually tested and calibrated before dispatch, and the sensitivity value printed on the capsule body matches the value on the calibration certificate. When ordering replacement capsules for an existing instrument, provide the preamplifier model to confirm thread compatibility.

Ordering and Compatibility

When ordering replacement cartridges, provide the preamplifier model number of the housing you are fitting the capsule into. PLACID capsules use the standard externally-polarised 1/2-inch or 1/4-inch thread and pin configuration. We maintain a compatibility record for all major preamplifier manufacturers and confirm compatibility before processing your order.

Lead time for standard replacement capsules is typically 2 to 4 weeks from order confirmation. For OEM quantities of 25 or more capsules, volume pricing and batch calibration are available. For capsules requiring TEDS pre-programming, provide the existing TEDS template data when placing the order. Custom sensitivity screening — for example, to supply capsules within ±0.5 dB of a specific nominal sensitivity — is available for orders of 5 or more capsules.
